The CFA Dispute Resolution Service
The CFA dispute resolution service is provided by the Contract Flooring Association for its Contractor and Distributor members. The service aims to assist in the process of negotiation to settle a complaint avoiding, if possible, the need to use mediation, arbitration, adjudication or litigation.
Negotiation is by far the most cost effective option with the financial implication increasing at every level, the most costly being litigation.
The service is completely free of charge and offers an inspection, by a CFA Consultant, of the flooring installation under dispute, followed by a written report which is issued to the member.
Consultant members will have operated in their chosen area of speciality for a minimum of 15 years and have up-to-date knowledge of the sector. The relevance of this experience will be considered by the CFA Council as part of their application process. Consultant members are required to:
- Be members of the Expert Witness Institute (EWI) - providing them with training in report writing, law for experts and personal courtroom skills.
- Carry Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
