New CITB Board Announced
NSCC has welcomed the appointment of the new CITB Board, which was announced on 13 January by Minister of State for Skills and Equalities Nick Boles.
The streamlined eight-member Board, which brings together levy payers and independent members from England, Wales and Scotland including five women, will be supported by a CITB Council whose members will be drawn from across the built environment sector.
Chairman of CITB James Wates CBE, who will chair the new Board, said:
“The appointment of a diverse, smaller, industry-led Board marks the next stage of a reform programme that will make us even more relevant and responsive to the needs and ambitions of the industry we serve.”
NSCC Specialist Contractors collectively pay around £23 million in levy and deliver a substantial amount of the trade-specific training, qualifications and apprentices required by the industry.
NSCC Chief Executive Suzannah Nichol said:
“An effective CITB is vital for the industry in order to support employers to develop and deliver the right skills in the right place at the right time. I would like to thank NSCC’s previous representatives on the CITB Board, Harry Adam (supported by the Painting and Decorating Association) and Geoff Holt (supported by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors) for all their hard work over the last 10 years.
“We look forward to the new Board setting out its objectives, leading CITB going forward, and looking after the training needs of the wide range of companies that operate in this very diverse sector.”
The new CITB Council includes Carole Bailey, Finance Director of DCP Group Holdings (UK) Ltd an NSCC Specialist Contractor in membership of the AIS FPDC. Suzannah Nichol has also been invited to contribute to a Strategic Funding Review and NSCC will continue to work closely with CITB at all levels.
