CFA Golf Day - The Belfry - 21 April 2022
They say the sun only shines on the righteous and it certainly turned out again for the CFA in April as we saw the welcome return of our Belfry Golf Day.
Forty four players in eleven teams made the cut and tee’d off from 9:30am after a bacon butty and coffee welcome in Sam’s Bar. Many reminded us that playing on the Brabazon course is a highlight of their golfing year and this was not only enhanced by the weather, but also the fact that the course was in absolutely splendid condition towards final preparation for the British Masters. The pin positions were a little tough, the rough challengingly long, but that only added to the experience of playing this famous Ryder Cup course.
All were welcomed back with a buffet lunch, a drink on the patio of the club house with time to exchange stories about their day. One member of the winning team (Alistair Holloway - Alan Gayle’s AG Flooring Team) had driven the tenth to land on the green. This was a feat first achieved by Seve Ballesteros in the 1985 Ryder Cup. Others spoke of the magnetic quality of the bunkers or the wonderful café at the half way point. Darren Kenyon Sales Director of F Ball commented, “It was a bit like a Morcambe and Wise Show, I had all the right shots but not necessarily in the right order.”
Business, networking and a great deal of fun was had by all who attended and we cannot mention the competition without properly thanking all the CFA manufacturer and distributors who supported: ARDEX UK Ltd, Bostik Ltd, Carpet and Flooring, F Ball & Co Ltd, Florprotec Ltd, Quantum Flooring Solutions and Uzin Utz UK Limited. Not forgetting our contractor teams from AG Flooring Ltd and Fantasy Flooring Ltd. I would also like to thank the CFA Council members who supported namely Alan Gayle, Matt Brown and of course the President Hamish MacGregor.
After quick thank you’s from CEO Richard Catt and prizes presented by the President, Hamish thanked all for attending and wished them a safe journey home … although some stayed a while.
The results were:
Individual competition
Winner - Gareth Owen
Runner-up - Mike Burris
Team Competition
A G Flooring Ltd (Alan Gayle, Alistair Holloway, Hamish MacGregor, Gareth Owen)
Nearest the Pin
Richard Allen (on team Uzin)
Longest Drive

Congratulations to all!
