- With skills shortages putting the industry under increasing pressure, Build UK may have the opportunity to suggest additions to the eligible occupations list for the Skilled Worker Visa provided there is sufficient evidence. Members are invited to send Build UK details of affected occupations, including their ONS codes, with supporting evidence showing why they should be included on the list by Friday 16 July.
- The CLC has issued a statement supporting an immediate update to the Shortage Occupations List. As well as backing the call from the Road Haulage Association (RHA) to include HGV drivers, the CLC has highlighted the need for the Pointsâ€Based Immigration System to accommodate specialist construction workers such as piling rig operators to prevent delays to major infrastructure projects.
- The EU has formally recognised UK data protection standards following the adoption of data adequacy decisions, which will allow UK businesses to continue to receive personal data from the EU without having to make additional arrangements.
