It has been quite a week and amongst all the business issues we are dealing with don't forget to look after yourself, your family and friends, and your workforce. The Prime Minister said last night 'stand by your workers and we will stand by you'. We have yet to see what that means but we know there are a range of measures to support employers being considered.

As well as the impact on us all as individuals, the coronavirus is causing a momentous shock to the global economy far beyond anything we have seen before. The £330 billion of funding announced by the Government is 15% of the UK's annual GDP and double the value of the construction sector, demonstrating the levels to which it is prepared to support business.

Schools and nurseries will close later today and the definition of ‘key workers’ has now been confirmed. It includes those required to keep transport, infrastructure and utility networks operational. The Government will ask workers to only use the limited school places that are available if they actually need them.
