WHAT IS FUTURE FITTERS?

This guide, produced by the Contract Flooring Association (CFA), is designed to address the shortage of skilled floor fitters in the UK by offering information to help:

Attract New Entrants

Detailing information that can be used to encourage individuals of all ages to consider careers in the commercial and domestic floor laying industry.

Provide Training Pathways

Offering information on training and support to help individuals become skilled, competent and qualified installers.

Assist Employers

Helping flooring contractors identify, recruit and support suitable candidates for their businesses.

CLEAR OBJECTIVES OF FUTURE FITTER

To identify as many solutions and entry points as possible for those wishing to join our industry, and for those wishing to reach out to potential new employees. Each section of the guide provides opportunities that reach towards these overarching goals.

Future Fitters Objectives

In this updated version of the guide, we are proud to share some of the progress we have made:

  • Apprenticeships and Funding - Significant improvements, raising support from £13,000 to £17,000 per apprentice.
  • Apprenticeship Growth - Through our training arm, Flooring FITA, we have expanded apprenticeship delivery significantly.
  • Support in Scotland - securing a new home for apprenticeship delivery in Scotland at CITB Inchinnan.
  • Engaging the Next Generation - Participated in STEM events and "Open Doors" events highlighting the opportunities in flooring.
  • Collaboration Across the Sector - Initiated new training programmes and partnerships with manufacturers and distributors
