Routemap for Zero Avoidable Waste in Construction
Webinar: Thursday 22 July : 11.00 to 12.30
A webinar to launch the Routemap for Zero Avoidable Waste in Construction will take place on Thursday 22 July from 11:00 – 12:30.
The construction sector – both buildings and infrastructure together – is the biggest producer by volume of waste in England. The overall reduction of waste, and the minimisation of waste to landfill is vital to improve material resource efficiency and will play a significant part in national carbon reduction.
The Routemap has been prepared by the Green Construction Board (GCB), in collaboration with Defra and BEIS. The Routemap aims to catalyse actions by all parts of the supply chain to reduce and ultimately eliminate all avoidable waste. It identifies the action that everyone involved in the construction sector – both public and private – can take to help deliver a lower carbon, more efficient industry. The Routemap adopts the interpretation of Zero Avoidable Waste in construction published by the GCB in 2020 and adopts the principles of the waste hierarchy and life cycle assessment.
The Routemap is supported by the Construction Leadership Council, which leads on strategic government and industry issues for the sector.
In the webinar, the chair of the Green Construction Board will give an introduction and welcome, and colleagues from Defra, BEIS and GCB will outline the context of the Routemap, and give an overview of the content and structure. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the session.
There is no need for registration– please just follow the link below at 11:00am on 22 July.
