The fines for employing illegal workers will increase to a maximum of £45,000 per illegal worker for a first offence and to £60,000 for repeated offences under the revised Home Office code of practice from 13 February 2024. Depending on the individual, employers have three options for ensuring that they have the right to work in the UK: a digital check, an online check or an inâ€person manual check.
