CFA Supports International Flooring Sustainability Initiative

The Contract Flooring Association recognises the urgency and importance of concerted action to improve the sustainability of the flooring industry. Earlier this year the CFA published a major scoping study entitled Zero Avoidable Waste in Flooring - Towards a Circular Economy, which in turn built on a report issued by the CFA in 2010 (The Flooring Resource Efficiency Action Plan).

Sustainability is constantly rising up the policy agenda, and the concept of a sustainable economy now underpins the Government’s strategy for a recovery of the construction sector post-covid.

According to Richard Catt, CFA Chief Executive Officer: “The flooring industry is keen to emphasise that it is on the same page as Government, with regard to the need for constant improvement on sustainability.

“We are very much aware of our responsibility to ensure that the products we install are sustainable. One of the best ways to ensure this is to manufacture and install them in such a way that they can remain within a circular model.”

In its latest initiative, the CFA is now supporting the international CISUFLO project, with which it will be engaging over the next four years.
